Marketing Video - Huge Growth Continues
29/07/19 15:19
Recent figures suggest the huge growth in the use and consumption of web video for business marketing continues.
The reasons for this are pretty simple.
1. Viewers retain 95% of a message when they watch it in a video, compared to 10% when they read it in text (Ref: Insivia).
2. 81% of businesses are now using video as a marketing tool, up from 63% last year (Ref: Hubspot).
3. Almost half (49%) of web traffic is now on mobiles worldwide (Google - figures just released for the first half of 2019). And video is ideal for such devices compared to the alternative of scrolling through small font text on their small screens.
As most people know, YouTube is the second most visited website, after Google, with 3.5 Million videos being watched every minute - and while that's happening another 300 hours of video is being uploaded in the same time period! (Ref: Google, 2019).
But video growth has exploded on LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram and Facebook too. A Facebook executive has already stated that they expect the channel to be almost entirely video within the next 2-3 years - and others state that there will be 1 Million minutes of video streaming across the web every second by 2020 (Ref: Cisco). Website viewers spend 88% more time on websites that have video than on those without too.
I could write pages of statistics so I'll just link to two recent sources below:
The Wordpress Blog 2018 HERE.
And this 2019 Biteable article HERE.
So, great you think! I'll just create some selfie-videos on my phone and have a piece of the action. Well you can do that, but do remember that if you want your potential viewers (i.e. your potential clients) to devote some of their valuable time actually watching and listening to your message, I'd suggest you make the most of the opportunity. An amateur offering might well see them scroll or click away in seconds - and once there gone they are very unlikely to ever come back. Don't waste the opportunity - use a professional to help you create a stand-out quality video that actually gets watched, shared, liked - and which, most of all, works. Video really can be cost effective for business use if it's produced well. A good video will help with SEO and your company image too, helping create or maintain your brand and bringing you new customers.
